Salisbury Cathedral - Phase 3
The roof at Salisbury Cathedral
|
Over its 775 year history Salisbury Cathedral has needed extensive repair and restoration work.
Since 1825 Norman & Underwood have undertaken work on many sections of the cathedral.
In 2002 we were selected as main contractor to replace the lead sheeting and repair the timberwork of the roofs to the North Transept, North Choir and North Choir Aisles.
During the last three phases over 250 tonnes of lead has been stripped and recast at our headquarters in Leicester, maintaining important continuity.
The new lead sheeting will protect the cathedral for the next 200 years or more helping to preserve the fabric of its fine medieval architecture for future generations.
