Salisbury Cathedral - Phase 2

Salisbury Cathedral
|
Norman & Underwood's Roofing and Stained Glass Division secured a second prestigious contract at Salisbury Cathedral, building on the strength of the excellent work previously carried out on the Cathedral's nave.
The work involved replacing the lead and restoring the timberwork of the Cathedral's North Transept, North Choir and North Choir Aisles. The job requires over 150 tonnes of lead, all of this cast and transported to Salisbury from Norman & Underwood's own sand cast facility at our Leicester Headquarters.
This major contract involves eight of our most experienced roofing craftsmen, working on the roof's lead, existing boarding and timberwork. Undertaking repairs to the oakwork of the various roofs, Norman & Underwood will make good use of its recently acquired £10,000 microboring equipment, which helped to ensure the structural stability of the oak timbers in previous phases of the work. Our craftsmen work closely with the Cathedral's own architects, archaeologists and structural engineers, ensuring that all work carried out preserves the original features.
