Leicester based Roofing specialists, Norman & Underwood has now successfully completed a major copper roofing and cladding contract on the new British Embassy in Moscow.
Craftsmen have been working for more than a year in Moscow, at times in extreme conditions of heat and cold, temperatures ranging from +30° to -20°. The international team at Norman & Underwood has recently returned from a final visit and inspection, with David Rowley, the Group Managing Director, being full of praise for a job well done by Norman & Underwood craftsmen.
The new embassy, surrounded by neo-Gothic splendour, is minimalist in design and will house diplomatic staff, who for many years have been in makeshift accommodation in the old embassy opposite the Kremlin. The new accommodation will be self-contained, including sports and shopping facilities and the architecture is in stark contrast to the current embassy, one of the grandest mansions in the city, built by a pre-Revolutionary sugar baron.
Norman & Underwood have also won other recent contracts, which include work at York Minster, Hampton Court and the private residence of Mick Jagger of Rolling Stones fame.
