Norman & Underwoods John Castleman has further improved Leicesters profile at the highest level of the heritage industry, by delivering a series of talks at the Hampton Court Palace Lead Seminar.
Addressing representatives from Buckingham Palace and English Heritage, Roofing Division Director, John Castleman, discussed the development and use of sand-cast lead, lead dressing and the importance on fine craftsmanship on historic buildings.
Prior to the seminar, Norman & Underwood had already supplied and fixed the lead work to The Great Hall at Hampton Court Palace, giving the delegates a relevant example of the work undertaken by the companys roofing craftsmen.
A number of significant leads have already developed from the Seminar, with Norman & Underwood investigating the possibility of restoration work on Windsor Castle.
John, who hopes to return to the Lead Seminar next year, comments: I feel proud to be able to present my knowledge to such a gathering of prestigious heritage delegates, sharing with them some of the 175 years of expertise that Norman & Underwood has gathered in restoration. |
