One of the UKs oldest established specialist glazing contractors is appealing to FGI readers in a bid to help it find some of the missing pieces in its 175-year history.
Leicester-based glazing, roofing and plumbing specialist Norman & Underwood, which began trading in 1825, is hoping that readers with long standing trade connections may be able to provide photographic and written material to help chronicle its past.
We would like to gather as much archive material as we can on the company in time for our official anniversary celebrations in September, says Norman & Underwood Director, Tony Youngjohns.
We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who might have any memorabilia relating to Norman & Underwood, or from people who have anecdotal stories about the company, or who have used our services.
Norman & Underwood hope to use any material donated or loaned as part of a visual history of the company, which will be on display throughout its anniversary celebrations.
The fact that Norman & Underwood has operated from the same site in central Leicester for nearly two hundred years makes it extremely unusual by todays standards, says Tony. We hope that a few readers will have information and memories to share with us during this anniversary year.
Anyone who has any information to offer on the history of Norman & Underwood should contact Tony Youngjohns on (0116) 251 5000.
