Leicester-based, internationally renowned restoration specialists, Norman & Underwood have appointed Michelle De Bank as a trainee surveyor and estimator.
Michelle will be supporting the companys roofing division, which has worked on such prestigious projects as the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem and the British Embassies in Moscow and Korea.
In her new role, Michelle will be given extensive on-site training, which she will combine with a BTEC National Building Studies course. This training will eventually enable her to measure up and estimate costs on major roofing projects both in the UK and abroad.
Initially tempted into the industry by her stonemason partner, Michelle comments: I am looking forward to the challenge of working on some of the UKs most historic buildings, and will relish the opportunity of working with the team on international projects.
It will be a privilege to work alongside craftsmen who are among the best in the field of roofing restoration.
Adds roofing division director, Jonathan Castleman: Michelles enthusiasm for the industry and her excellent customer relations skills make her the perfect person for this role. I am sure that this enthusiasm and her previous experience with some of the countrys largest organisations will prepare her for the challenging role that lies ahead.
The roofing division are currently recasting the lead on Chatsworth House and the Nave roof at Salisbury Cathedral.
