David Stanborough, the Director of Norman and Underwoods Plumbing Division has retired from the Leicester company after 30 years of loyal service.
David joined Norman & Underwood as a sales representative in 1969 after an apprenticeship in the building trade, and had been the Plumbing Divisions Director for over 10 years. During this time he played a leading role in helping to position the companys plumbing business to be amongst the best in the country.
During his time with the company, David worked with five different Managing Directors and has seen many changes, including the introduction of the prestigious Bathroom and Kitchen Showroom at the companys Freeschool Lane premises.
His varied career has taken him from sales counter work with local snooker hero, Willie Thorne to selling luxury bathroom suites to England international rugby stars, Richard Cockerill and Austin Healey.
During an emotional farewell ceremony at which he was presented with retirement gifts, including a camera of his own choosing, from his colleagues, David reminisced about happy memories of his time with the company.
Says David: I have always enjoyed working for the company and feel that during this time, I have served as part of a team that has always provided an expert and friendly service to its customers.
I will certainly miss Norman & Underwood, but now I will have lots more time to devote to my family and grandchildren and of course, my other passion in life my position as Director of Hinckley United F.C.!
