The contract was carried out over a 2½ year period, using
110 tonnes of sand cast lead, weighing 48.5 kilos per metre
square. Subsequent work carried out to the chancel roof, nave
roof and north and south west towers. |

building housing the Mappa Mundi. |

destroyed by fire the 9th July 1984 and replaced by us using
49 tonnes of lead, with 26,200 No copper nails used throughout
the lead work. |

The Spire was totally recovered in copper in 1993, the company
was the outright winner of the Copper Developments Association
copper roofing competition, together with the John Smith award
for craftsmanship in 1993. |

The company's long association with the abbey began in 1954
and has carried on periodically since. Work included total replacement
of lead work to the nave, north and south transepts and apse
roof, together with cornices on the west towers. |
