Bathroom Tiles Put On The Style
Party style tiles
There is much more to creating the perfect bathroom than simply finding the right suite.

No matter how stylish the sanitaryware, the right impression cannot be achieved unless similar attention is paid to the appearance of wall and floor coverings.

Tired tiles and cheap carpet will spoil the overall effect, detracting from the clean fresh look provided by today’s bright, white bathroom collections.

Bathroom supplier Norman & Underwood in St Peter’s Lane, Leicester reports that its customers are increasingly willing to splash out on tiles to create the bathrooms they want.

As a major supplier of Villeroy & Boch sanitaryware, the company also sells the latest tile ranges by the upmarket German design house.

Peter Gledhill, general manager of Norman & Underwood’s Bathroom & Plumbing Division, said: “We can supply a wide selection to suit a variety of tastes, but all our tiles are designed to complement the Villeroy & Boch bathroom collections.

“Colours range from basic beiges to bold blues, with matching floor tiles available so that the design theme can flow throughout the whole room.

“Our showroom offers a design facility called Creative System where customers can see how various tile formats can be mixed and matched with borders in corresponding tones to create different looks.”

Designs range from traditional through contemporary and retro, with new materials and textures also adding interest. Norman & Underwood is among the first UK suppliers to take delivery of exciting new ranges such as Wave and Game – both of which give bathrooms, a dynamic, upbeat feel.

Among Villeroy & Boch’s extensive collections are tiles with fossil imprints, wood-effect ceramics, elegant porcelain tiles and blocks of opaque glass in striking shades such as burnt orange and aquamarine.

The latest tiles are also practical as well as pretty, with the majority of ranges featuring Ceramics Plus to make them more water repellent and easier to keep clean.

Norman & Underwood bathroom showroom manager Rob Betts said: “Some of our customers spend as much on tiles as on their bathroom suites, with Villeroy & Boch tiles starting at £20 a metre.

“The tiled look which is very popular in Europe has now caught on here, with people wanting both wall and floor tiling.

“Floor tiles are so much more hygienic and attractive than carpets and they can be laid onto wooden floorboards if a special adhesive is used.

“The right floor tiles can make all the difference and they don’t have to be confined to the bathroom. Many of the wall and floor designs we supply would look equally as good in hall ways or kitchens.”
